The great Indian cricket show and the drama has just begun

Many heads will roll, some careers will end and a few great innings will come to an abrupt end. Hopefully it happens.... This is one of the lowest moments in Indian cricket history, one of the lowest as there have been a few comparable events. But sooner or later it had to happen. How long do we want to carry a Sachin, Sehwag, Agarkar, Harbhajan who last performed ages ago or have a Dravid as captain who in spite of being a great batsman and a wonderful team member was never a captain material. Hence immediate exit of two people is very important – Mr. Captain but not Dravid the player and Mr. Coach.

Great work Mr. Chappell everyone knows that you are a survivor, but the problem is that you have always managed to save your own head and never been a leader. If you we so upset with the team selection then you should have come out in the open at that point of time and said ‘I cannot coach this team’ and should have stated the problems which you SMSed to Mr. Bala. Today you would have been a hero. But sadly you lacked courage or maybe you also believed that this team can do something. Else you were coaching a team in which you yourself didn’t believe, wow that’s great.

We can complain about the average age of our team or the physical fitness of our team. But I guess the Australian team consists of more players who are 30+. Indian player have never been great fielders or runners between the wickets. Except for a Jadega or a Yuvraj. Or we wanted players who could only run fast like – Kaif or Raina but could score 10 runs in 10 matches.

So now what - get a new coach and a new captain, play against Bangladesh, defeat them comprehensively and start feeling that all hunky-dory again. Well am sorry that’s not the solution, the problem has much deeper routes. First in which country other than India are politicians or a retired bureaucrat running the sports bodies. Get rid of them that’s the first way.

Then develop cricket from the grass route level, reduce the gap between national and international cricket. Make Ranji / Duleep trophy more competitive.

Now what first find a coach who wants to coach a team rather than play politics. Then appoint a captain who is aggressive and is young. Get rid of all the non – performing players. Create a talent pool by constantly giving opportunity to new players. Do experiments but avoid overkill like - Pathan.

At the end it’s a wake up call for BCCI which has only been interested in minting money but never been interested in the development of cricket.

And of course thanks a lot Mr. Chappell, Mr. Dravid and Co. we will now enjoy some good cricket without being emotional and ya Thanks Bermuda - you have saved us the pain of suffering through another 5-6 listless matches.

So now who will win the world cup? Of course Australia....
